Baratxuri crowned best restaurant in Manchester Food and Drink Awards 2021
RAMSBOTTOM'S reputation as a food and drink destination has been further cemented after a popular tapas bar was voted restaurant of the year at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival Awards, 2021 - beating city centre eateries.
Baratxuri, which serves tapas inspired by dishes from northern Spain, first opened its doors in 2015.
It was double the celebration at the awards ceremony for the Baratxuri team as the restaurant’s head chef, Rachel Stockley, was crowned chef of the year. Co-owner Fiona Botham, 55, said:
““We were really shocked about the win. Baratxuri was up against some of the best restaurants in Manchester city centre, so we really weren’t expecting it. It’s down to the incredible support of our customers. They got online and voted for us. It’s heart-warming and a really lovely feeling. We want to keep Ramsbottom thriving and honour its reputation as ‘good food’ town!”
Baraxturi has a delicious menu, featuring tastes of Bilbao and San Sebastian.
Food lovers can enjoy pinchos, fine roasted meats, special steaks and prawns in a relaxed, dining setting.
The taps bar also has a sister restaurant, Lavanter, which specialises in cuisine from the southern region of Andalucia.
There is currently an outdoor seating area in which guests can enjoy tapas from both restaurants.
This year, award winners were decided entirely by public vote.
The Food and Drink Awards were held in-person at The Ticket Hall at Manchester’s Freight Island, after being held remotely in 2020.
Fiona added: “We took the whole team to the ceremony to reward them with a staff night out.
“It was really great to get dressed up and let your hair down after the challenges the hospitality industry has faced.”
A total of 16 award winners from establishments across Greater Manchester were announced, with over 450 nominees in attendance.
